HUSS is A supplier for particulate filters to Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG in Laupheim/ Germany (1). Since 1969 the brand, Pistenbully, has been produced there. Over the years Pistenbully has emerged as the undisputed market leader for snow crawlers. Around 17,000 vehicles have been sold to 66 different countries.

Operating in the continually increasing indoor ski slopes, as well as in Switzerland and California, snow crawlers have to be equipped with a wall flow particulate filter system, this way the pistes stay snow-white and are perfectly groomed. Pure mountain air must be preserved, which is the highest pleasure for alpine skiers.

One reason for the decision in favour of HUSS has been the international orientation.
HUSS is also the only producer of particulate filters offering 6 different regeneration strategies. This means that for every application and exhaust gas temperature the optimal filter system can be integrated. The “Pistenbullys“ operate under extreme conditions. Driving permanently up-hill and downhill of the highest grades, additionally, the huge amount of snow that has to be moved, provide high exhaust gas temperatures. This presents an ideal case for retrofitting a catalytic coated particulate filter, the MC. Kässbohrer offers this emission reduction system for all of its five model series. HUSS has developed its own filter kit for the PB 100 (173 hp) (2) , PB 400 ( 364 hp) (3) and PB 600 (395 hp) in each case. Only the smallest engine requires another filter size.

For the two high-power Polar versions 400 and 600 (482 hp) (4) a common filter kit has been created. All filters can be integrated seamlessly and out of view near the engine. (6)(7) The temperature evaluation indicates, for instance for the PB 100, that the exhaust gas temperature is constantly over the necessary 270°C. The backpressure levels off at round about 100 mbar.
