Oil drilling rig

HUSS US dealer, A‐Z Emissions Solutions, has announced on August 10th the completion of a multi‐filter, diesel engine retrofit project for Ensign Energy Services, an international oilfield services contractor and PXP, an independent oil and gas company. A‐Z Emissions installed 24 active HUSS diesel particulate filters (DPFs) on five different diesel engines on an Ensign Energy drilling rig which has been set up for a PXP project to drill a number of wells in the City of Inglewood, California. This project represents the first installation on a drilling rig as well as the single largest HUSS installation to date.

The drilling rig operations team now has the ability to run the 1000 hp engines up to 18 hours before requiring a regeneration to clean the filters. One engine received a HUSS MK2400 filter pack, comprised of 8 filters, and four engines received MK1200 filter packs, containing 4 filters each.

“The requirements to reduce air pollution in California are a growing concern for many organizations and agencies and A‐Z Emissions Solutions is pleased that we could support this project,” says Doug Kollmyer, Director of A‐Z Emission Solutions. “While we have done thousands of installations to retrofit buses and trucks, this project demonstrates combined expertise and ability to support large diesel powered engines that have emissions compliance requirements.”

“This is the largest HUSS installation on a single piece of equipment in the US: six quadruple filter systems, 24 filters altogether. That’s 24 filters, 24 exhaust pipes, 24 blowers, 24 fuel pumps, 24 control units, and 24 wiring harnesses,” says Steve Dickson, HUSS Applications Engineer. “The installation by A-Z Emissions looked professional, with very good attention to detail ‐ quite an accomplishment, especially on such a tight schedule.”
