Faun
HUSS is supplying Diesel particulate filters for cranes of the long established company, Faun, in Lauf near Nuremberg. Faun needs a filter system for crane types, which are exported to Japan and for which the configuration of the engine electronic is PM emission wise not sufficient.
Characteristically, the drive engine of a crane doesn't achieve medium or high exhaust gas temperatures. This is due to the way the equipment is used. Short distances and then the crane engine is working, while the particulate filter for the drive engine can be regenerated. This is a typical application for the HUSS MK-System with active Diesel burner regeneration, which makes this system independent from the exhaust gas temperatures.
On a crane FA053J powered by a Daimler OM502LA engine with 603 hp(1) a MK 400 (double filter system) is mounted. This filter is a special construction. The exhaust gas flow comes into an additional exhaust inlet chamber, where it is passed out in the two filters by y pipe. The whole unit is lifted and fixed on the vehicle. (2) (3) HUSS uses its HUSS control with the Smart Integration function. The steering device is fixed near the filter and a separate display showing the filter status in the cockpit.(4) After the integration of a heat protection around the whole filter (5) unit the vehicle can be driven out for a test ride.(6) After that the vehicles are shipped to Japan where initially the crane is mounted.
