School buses NY

HUSS, Inc. successfully applied for and received a bid contract to retrofit 160 school buses for the New York Department of Education with the MK-System.  Gabrielli Truck, a US partner, has performed the installations for this first project.

HUSS Project manager Mark Zens, and Training Specialist Tom Williams arrived at Gabrielli Truck on the morning of May 3 2010 ready to begin this large project.  The duo was met with open arms from the personnel at Gabrielli Truck, and in particular Pini Visca, the Service Manager. “Everybody, from the start, was ready to get started with a positive attitude,” comments Tom Williams.

Two buses were already at the site ready to receive an MK 200 with the CleanDieselCeramics (CDC) filter media.

In the beginning, a slight problem with the first bus was encountered.  A box, used for storage, was directly where the DPF was meant to be placed.  After short deliberation, and double checking with the bus company, it was decided that the best option was to remove the box, which provided ample room for the system.  By the second bus the technicians at Gabrielli began to get into a rhythm; figuring out where to place components, where to run the harness and in general where to place everything so that each bus would be completed in exactly the same way.

By the end of the week Gabrielli had developed an organized system with the installations, and had a firm grasp of how and why the filter system works the way it does, enabling them to be better equipped if problems arise as they continue this large undertaking in the weeks to come.
