Since the recognition of health risks caused by particulate matter emissions, the market for particle filters has accelerated. The worldwide growing population leads to a steadily growing number of vehicles and to tough demands on mobility. In order to not pollute the air we are breathing, the emission values of engines are limited. Strict environmental and health protection restrictions (mainly within the EU, Switzerland and the USA) challenge engine manufacturers to achieve one hundred percent particulate matter (PM) reduction.
A reduction by another 90%, compared to current limits, will occur in the near future. Exhaust aftertreatment systems are the best solution for meeting this challenge.
